I stole this man's picture when I was on top of Mount Bromo (the crater). He is an edelweiss seller.. The almost-extinct-everlasting flower is indeed under the government law as one kind of the preserved protected flowers, but as usual, a rule is made to break. Especially there's this myth that if you throw a bouquet of edelweiss to the crater while making a wish, it will come true. That's why these people take advantage of it.
I didn't turn on the cam light so that the guy wouldn't notice that i took his picture. It came out good and clear, fortunately, and I'm happy of his expression: taking a break and smoking cigarretes. The red plastic bags were full with the unsold edelweiss of different colours.
As the previous photos of Bromo, it was taken by an old battery camera that I forgot to replace. hehe..
Lovely picture. I'm glad I happened upon your gallery!
I'm fascinated by the idea of coloured edelweiss, though - Edelweiss is a white flower. The name means Noble White(ness) in German. Of course words like this can be borrowed and change meaning, I know that really.
yes i know. they coloured it. some people don't believe in the myth and they just wanted to take it home. after sometime, its colour will be back white again. the flower is just meant to be white..
